Celtic Media Group is probably the best positioned company in the industry to advise other newspapers on how to publish and print high quality titles - at a very competitive pricing. Reason being that CMG is large enough to have most of the benefits in terms of economies of scale - but small enough to be able to think like an "independently-owned" company. And, we have been through a very considerable cost reduction programme - with yet more to come!

Our operations - whether at Celtic Media Pre-Press in Mullingar, or at Celtic Media Print outside Navan - are centrally located within half an hour of the M50 network and avail of the latest communications networks. Ours is the only centralised pre-press in the Republic of Ireland capable of providing independent titles with access to such savings - including a complete removal of production payroll. CMG has just extended the benefit of that "full service" cost reduction offering to Connaught Telegraph - allowing the Castlebar-based title focus on core news reporting and local advertising sales. Sligo Weekender became the second outsourcing partner for pre-press in May 2012.

Employing just under 100 full-time equivalents, Celtic Media Group publishes market leading newspapers such as The Anglo Celt in Cavan; Meath Chronicle in Navan; Westmeath Examiner in Mullingar and Westmeath Independent in Athlone. It also has two quality free newspapers: Offaly Independent and Forum, the latter being a digital/newspaper new-launch on the Meath/Dublin border.

But it is the extent of our "total solution" offering - involving Celtic Media Pre-Press, managed by Joe Tone, and Celtic Media Print, where Bill Paterson is print director - that is really facilitating much-needed reinvention of the regional newspaper business model.
